Restoration of tooth enamel

Violation of the integrity of tooth enamel is a common problem. A person can feel that his enamel is damaged, according to periodically arising painful sensations. Usually they are associated with eating too high or too low a temperature, although sometimes the pain occurs and just when you touch the teeth.

Causes of destruction of tooth enamel:

  • Harmful habits: smoking, alcoholism, as well as regular use of power engineers.
  • Frequent use of sugar-containing products, which are particularly active in destroying enamel.
  • Drinking beverages with a lot of acid, especially lemon juice. This applies primarily to carbonated waters, which are also very sweet, as well as to regular tea with lemon.
  • Citrus fruits are not very useful for enamel, especially if they are regularly eaten.
  • Improper nutrition usually leads to a breakdown in digestion and a violation of the acid-base balance. Because of this, gastric acid often spills out of the stomach, which has a very negative effect on the teeth.
  • It is bad enough to drink hot food with cold water, or, on the contrary, to seize hot drinks with cold dishes. Such sharp changes in temperature destroy the enamel, since it is not calculated on them.
  • In case of incorrect bite, injury or incorrect treatment, the enamel can be damaged purely mechanically.
  • With age due to demineralization, the enamel is thinned out on its own.

Methods of restoration of tooth enamel

Tooth enamel is a tissue that can not be restored on its own. Therefore, to eliminate the consequences of the destruction of tooth enamel, it is necessary to resort to the means of modern medicine.

  • Fluoridation. Most often, for the restoration of tooth enamel, fluoridation is used to coat the teeth with fluorine-containing preparations. Fluoridation is the most affordable price, but this procedure will have to be done several times. Despite the fact that fluoridation seems to be an easy procedure, fluoride-containing gels and lacquers are not recommended at home - it should be done by an experienced physician, since fluorides at the slightest ingestion into the pharynx or on the oral mucosa can lead to serious complications. Fluoridation, as is clear from the name, saturates the enamel with fluoride and contributes to its strengthening and recovery.
  • Remineralization.Remineralization is the saturation of tooth enamel with various minerals due to the treatment of teeth with special preparations. In some ways, remineralization may seem similar to fluoridation, but it has a slightly different principle. During remineralization, a special protective film is formed on the tooth surface, which strengthens the enamel and does not allow it to break down. At the same time, the film is very similar in composition to the real tooth enamel.

Prevention of destruction of enamel

Instead of allowing the destruction of enamel, it's easier to avoid it. There are several ways that you can help prevent demineralization.

  • After each meal try to rinse your mouth with water, and twice a day the teeth should be thoroughly cleaned.
  • Often eat solid foods, such as carrots. Also, give preference to eating with a lot of vitamins and minerals.
  • Eat smaller products based on sugar.
  • Do not rinse your mouth immediately after brushing your teeth - wait a couple of minutes until the nutrients from the paste are absorbed into the enamel.
  • Massage the gums - it is through them that nutrients enter the teeth.
  • At least once or twice a year, visit a dentist who will be able to detect the diseases at the initial stage and prevent the destruction of enamel.
