Tooth removal of any complexity

Modern surgical dentistry allows in most cases to avoid the removal of teeth, but still the removal of teeth is sometimes necessary.

The operation to remove the tooth should be done only in the most extreme case, when other methods to save the tooth are no longer possible or when the tooth can cause other, more formidable complications.

Indications for the removal of teeth

Sufficiently frequent indication to the removal of the tooth is the need for sanation of the oral cavity in the presence of chronic periodontitis in the stage of exacerbation, when it is impossible to eliminate the inflammatory focus at the tip of the tooth.

Surgical operations to remove the tooth are conducted under effective analgesia.

Wisdom tooth extraction

If the problem tooth is the wisdom tooth, then its removal is classified as difficult.

To remove the teeth resorted to in cases where they are incorrectly located in the dentition, it is not possible to save them because of significant destruction or threat of complications.

Problems with wisdom teeth often arise even when they erupt. They erupt at the age of 18-25 years (sometimes - and much later), when the dentition is formed by 28 teeth, which leads to an improper arrangement of wisdom teeth in the dentition (the lower wisdom teeth are shifted more often), immersion (incomplete incision with a slope in the vertical, horizontal, distal or medial direction). In addition, improper position of the wisdom teeth can lead to damage to adjacent teeth, exerting pressure on them and leading to damage to their roots and resorption, as well as to their displacement and malocclusion.

If the wisdom tooth has taken the wrong position or not completely erupted, it leads to pericornitis (inflammation of the surrounding tissues), part of the tooth is under the gum and in the gingival pocket food remains, which are an excellent medium for the reproduction of various microorganisms. Wisdom teeth are often affected by tooth decay, tk. Between it and the second molar, the food remains and dental plaque is formed because it is difficult to clean the space with a toothbrush. At the same time caries affects not only the wisdom tooth, but also the second molar next to it.

For experienced specialists working in our clinic, the removal of wisdom teeth usually does not present a serious problem. In some cases (for example, when immersing a wisdom tooth), one resorts to cutting the gum and removing the underlying bone tissue and applying dental burs to remove the tooth in parts.
