Removable prosthetics

Removable prosthetics

Nylon partial removable prostheses

Removable prosthetics of teeth with nylon prostheses are used both for partial and complete loss of teeth and is one of the most modern methods of removable dental prosthetics in modern dentistry. The aesthetic appearance of nylon prostheses is based on their translucency and disguise under the color of the gum, and imperceptible to extraneous eye fixation by dentalveolar clams. These supporting structures of the nylon prosthesis are not made of metal, as usual, but of the same material as the prosthesis itself, so they are also elastic and indistinguishable in color from the gum. Due to the reduced volume and fineness to nylon removable dentures get used more quickly than to traditional ones.

Patients note that nylon dentures are much more comfortable than acrylic dentures, they are more unpretentious in maintenance, they can be worn constantly, and at night, too, taking only for normal hygienic procedures - cleaning teeth and the prosthesis with a toothbrush and paste. And sometimes the design needs to be cleaned with special solutions for cleaning removable dentures, in which the prosthesis is immersed for half an hour and then washed with running water.

Advantages of nylon prostheses:

  1. Superelastic (flexible), they differ from other prostheses with increased strength, withstand high loads.
  2. Have an accurate fit and stable fixation.
  3. Very light and do not rub the gum..
  4. Nylon does not absorb moisture with the flora of the mouth, so microorganisms do not live there.
  5. Contain a stable colorant that gives them a good aesthetic appearance, even after prolonged use.
  6. Do not contain metal elements.
  7. Rapid addiction of patients.
  8. Recommended for prosthetics in all clinical cases.

Indications for use

Flexible nylon dentures are successfully used both for replacing partial defects (1-2 teeth) and for correcting large defects in the dentition. Nylon prostheses are recommended for prosthetics of any clinical cases, especially for patients with periodontal disease 1 and 2 degrees. And also for patients with traumatic occupations (MES, fire department, police, extreme sports), because it is impossible to break such a prosthesis. Also, flexible soft nylon dentures can be used to prevent deformation of the dentition with premature loss of teeth.

Complete removable dentures

Complete removable plate prostheses are used with a complete absence of teeth on one or both jaws. Their task is to fill the absence of all teeth. Partial removable dentures are used in the absence of single teeth or a group of teeth in the dentition. This type of prosthesis is used for loss of the main chewing teeth and for defects dental rows of a large extent. They can also be used as a temporary prosthesis or in the absence of a single tooth. Plate-shaped partial prostheses are used to restore lost fragments of the dentition and are the simplest and affordable.

What are modern removable dentures manufactured from?

Modern dentures are made of dental acrylic plastics by injection molding, hot and cold compressive polymerization. The use of such plastics allows the prosthesis to retain its properties for a long time - shape, color, density and strength.

How are modern removable dentures fastened in the mouth?

Option one. Removable dentures can be fixed with the help of clasps - metal hooks, which "hold on" to the defect supporting teeth. Clamps are made of stainless steel or precious metals with high spring properties. Thanks to such properties, the clamper reliably keeps the prosthesis in the mouth in time for meals, talking, etc. Clamps are fixed at the very base of the tooth and are not visible when laughing and talking. This type of attachment can be used in partial plate prostheses.

Option two. Removable dentures can be fixed with attachments - locks consisting of two elements. One of these elements is located inside the artificial tooth or the base of the prosthesis, and the other - on the crowned tooth support or in the root of the tooth. This option in comparison with the clasps has a number of advantages - higher reliability and aesthetic properties.

How to care for removable dentures?

Removable dentures need periodic cleaning, as they lie on the gingival surface of the jaw and create poorly washed zones. It is also necessary to periodically remove the prosthesis after eating food to clean the surfaces. After this, it is necessary to rinse the mouth well and return the prosthesis to its place. Optimal cleansing of prostheses daily, at least - before bed, and as a maximum - after each meal.

Can I leave a removable denture for the night? After evening hygienic procedures for cleaning the prosthesis and the oral cavity, this is quite acceptable. Here everything depends on the desire of the owner of the prosthesis to leave it in the mouth for the night or vice versa, rest from his presence. Many dentists recommend in the first weeks after prosthetics to leave a removable denture in your mouth at night for better habituation.

If removable dentures cause discomfort and you just can not get used to them, you should turn to the technology of partially removable prosthetics or choose the implants, which are by far the most comfortable, aesthetic and durable way of prosthetics. However, implantation will cost more, which, nevertheless, is completely justified by the complexity and the highest quality of this technology.

Clasp prosthesis of teeth

Clasp prosthesis, as the name suggests (from Bugel - an arc), was first used in Germany and since then this type of denture has become one of the most popular in orthopedic dentistry.

What is a clasp prosthesis

Clasp prosthesis is one of the variants of removable prosthetics, but the only thing that the classical lamellar and clasp dentures look like is that both can be removed and put on their own. By the way, unlike lamellar, clasp prosthesis is not necessary to remove at night. The main constructive feature of the clasp prosthesis is the presence in it of a metal arc frame (made of titanium, chrome-cobalt, gold-platinum alloys, etc.), due to which the load is evenly distributed not only on the gum, but also on the preserved teeth.

How is made the clasp prosthesis

Clasp prosthesis is a design, the main part of which is a cast metal arc. This arc connects two bases, replacing lost teeth and can be on the palate (with prosthetic teeth of the upper jaw) or under the tongue (with prosthetics of the teeth of the lower jaw). On the arc itself there are various fastening and functional elements of the clasp prosthesis. Fixation of the clasp prosthesis is carried out with the use of special hooks (clasps), locks (or attachments, while one of its parts is fixed on the tooth with the help of a crown, the other is integrated directly into the prosthesis), telescopic crowns (one crown is attached to the tooth, the other - to the denture). When the looseness of the teeth (often with periodontitis), a denture clasp prosthesis can be used.

The average life of the clasp prosthesis is about 10 years.

Advantages of prosthetics using clasp prostheses

Due to the use of a durable metal frame in the clasp prosthesis, all its elements are securely fastened, which ensures a very rigid, practically immobile fixing of the prosthesis, while the design itself is light and compact.

The installation of clasp prostheses does not require preliminary grinding of teeth. Its use is more physiological than plate-like prostheses, because the load is evenly distributed not only to the supporting teeth, but also to the others in the dentition, which ensures proper bite, normal food processing, does not cause a change in diction. As a rule, patients get accustomed to clasp prostheses very quickly.

Prosthetic dentistry using clasp prostheses is possible, both for single and multiple defects of the dentition, up to complete adentia (in this case, dental prosthesis is used on implants).

Prosthetic dentistry: value or quality and comfort?

Of course, when using clasp prostheses in dental prosthetics, its cost will be higher than the use of lamellar prostheses, however functional and aesthetic indices for clasped prosthetics are an order of magnitude higher. The specialists of our clinic note that usually with denture replacement, cost is not always a decisive factor for the patient. In any case, the vast majority of patients of the dental clinic S.I.Y. Dental prefers comfort, high functional and aesthetic characteristics of clasp prostheses.
